Update for June, 2011

Hi Everyone:

I'm late once again, and once again I haven't got a lot of news. There are two events coming up some importance to me. First, Sandy and I are going to see Roger McGuinn, long-time leader of the Byrds, At the Folly Theater on June 17. The Byrds were certainly not greater than the Beatles, but no other band has had a greater effect on me( other than the Fab four) . McGuinn won't be rocking out at this event, but I'm really looking forward to it, nonetheless.

The other important event is an appointment with my neurologist on June 29th. I expect to be on some new medication after that date, but I really don't know. I expect to learn a lot at this visit. I'll share the outcome with you at the end of the month.

Things are really busy at work, however, and when I get my work done, I feel good. So I'm going to take a few weeks hiatus. I'll be back in touch at the end of the month with some real news.

Thanks for staying with me. I promise I'll be back in late June, and I'll continue this blog then.

Marc

  1. Hi Marc! It is your old friend Marti Fairchild Escalante. I just had a chance to catch up on all of your posts. Reading about the plaza, Blue Koi, Oklahoma Joes, etc made me really miss KC! I would move back in a second if a University job became available for Roosevelt. But....there is only one position like his at each University and they don't open up very often. It sounds like you have gotten a lot of answers about your health and are doing everything you can.I am inspired by your journey. An update on the Escalante family: Trey is 4 and Mia is 3. They are home from daycare for the summer and Roosevelt is Mr. Mom on the days I work. This last school year I did 2 days of contract work for the local school system and then 2 days of work for a hospital an hour away from our town. Now that school is out, I am working 2-3 days a week for the hospital. We are taking a trip to Florida this summer. We won't be getting out to KC this summer. KC is a better adult trip for us since we like to go out to dinner, go for drinks, and do non-kid activities and right now we don't have anyone to take care of them. They are too much physically for my 72 year old mother to handle right now. In a couple of years, she will be able to do it again but right now they aren't always the most behaved kids and sometimes need chasing/lifting, etc. ;) This is my payback for the kind of child I was. My kids are WILD!! Enough about me and my story on your blog.....even if I don't always comment, I will be reading your blog. I'm sure there are a lot of other people who are doing the same. You are much loved and respected around the world and I feel so privledged and blessed to know you and to have worked with you! Take care!
